Coming soon to the Shopify App Store
Store Backup for Shopify is not listed on the Shopify App Store yet. This guide shows how installing will work.
Join the early access listSteps
- Install the app. On the Store Backup page of the Shopify App Store, click Install. Shopify shows the permissions the app needs (listed below); approve them.
- Open Store Backup. In your Shopify admin, open Store Backup from your apps. The first time it opens, it starts the first full backup of your store by itself. There is nothing to set up.
- Let the first backup finish. The Protection page shows its progress. How long it takes depends on the size of your store: Shopify first prepares an export of your data, then Store Backup reads it. You can close the app meanwhile.
- Check what is covered. The What is covered page lists what is backed up, what can be restored, and what no app can restore, with the reason.
- Try a practice restore. Once the first backup is done, the Protection page offers a practice restore: pick one item, restore it, check it in your store, then undo it. It takes a couple of minutes and shows you how a real restore works.
After that
- A backup runs every day, at an hour of its own for your store.
- Products, collections and stock are also saved shortly after each change you make.
- Pages, blog posts, menus and redirects are saved by the daily backup, because Shopify sends no signal when they change.
